3D Printer OS: Basics

Print Queue Progress and Print Status

Under the "Printers" tab you should be able to view the members queue, including an estimated print time of the prints ahead of yours in the queue. Prints sent by other users will be blurred out, except for the print time. Right at the top under Member Queue, you will see the number of jobs in the queue and the estimated print time of the jobs. This can give you a rough estimate of how long it will take to get to your print. The Maker Multiplex has many printers running all of the time, all drawing from the same queue so your print may be finished much quickly than it seems at first!

IMPORTANT

When your print finishes, you will get a system-generated notification that the print is done. However, this DOES NOT mean that it printed successfully -- there are possible errors that occurred during the print (e.g., layer shifting), that 3DPrinterOS does not detect. Therefore, please do not come to pick up your print until you are notified with the bin number.

If you would like to check on your print, feel free to drop by HQ (ENA 03 Bottom of the ENGG stairs by the ping pong tables) during open hours and ask a member of staff!

When and where to pick up your prints

We will retrieve your print after it has finished and place it inside a bin in HQ (ENA 03). After this process, you will receive an email to your ucalgary email account with the bin number that contains your print. We ask that you drop by HQ (ENA 03) during open hours and pick up your print at your earliest convenience. Due to lack of storage space, we will dispose of any unclaimed prints two weeks from the finishing date of print.

IMPORTANT

As noted earlier, when your print finishes, you will get a system-generated notification that the print is done. However, this DOES NOT mean that it printed successfully -- there are possible errors that occurred during the print (e.g., layer shifting), that 3DPrinterOS does not detect. Therefore, please do not come to pick up your print until you are notified with the bin number.
