3D Printer OS: Basics

Sending files to queue

Once your GCode file is ready for printing, click on the print button to open the printing menu which should look similar to the image below.

The "Queue Time" column refers to how many hours of prints are ahead of you in the queue. Because we have many 3d printers, this time does not refer to the amount of time before your print gets processed, but generally the higher this number is, the longer it will take for your print to be processed.

Click the empty circle on the right of the training printer to select it, then click "Queue" in the bottom right of the window.

A survey window will show up asking some questions about your print. For a regular print submission, please fill this out as accurately as possible then click "Continue with Queue" to send your file to the printer queue.

Note: For the training project, you must put the correct answers to this survey (written in red below, near the end of this page). If you have incorrect answers, your training project may not pass.

The colours we have available are all Prusament PLA. Specialty filaments are not available, but we can print them if required. We can print your specialty filament (you will need to provide your own) if you message us at sse.m2z@ucalgary.ca

Our available colours change periodically depending on stock; some common colours that we have are:

Colour Prusament colour name
Black Galaxy Black
White Pearl White
Gold Viva La Bronze
Purple Galaxy Purple
Blue Royal Blue
Pink Hot Pink
Green Galaxy Green
Red Galaxy Red
Silver Galaxy Silver

If you'd like more information on these colours (or to view samples), feel free to visit HQ in ENA 03.

WHEN YOU SUBMIT YOUR NAME TO THE TRAINING QUEUE, SELECT THE FOLLOWING:

  • Personal Project / Other
  • White as your preferred colour
  • Print in any colour if your preferred colour is not available

Once the file with your name has been checked by a staff member in the training queue, you will be given access to the members queue where you can send any file to be printed. Once you have been given access to the members queue, the entire process shown in this tutorial remains the same, the only difference is the printer that you select should be "Member Queue" not Training Queue" when sending in your print.

NOTE: If the survey does not appear, please refresh the window and try again. This is a known issue in 3D Printer OS. If refreshing multiple times does not work, please contact the M2Z email for support.

NO FILES SENT TO THE TRAINING QUEUE WILL BE PRINTED, THIS QUEUE SHOULD ONLY CONTAIN THE FILES FOR THE TRAINING PROJECT (THE LETTERS OF YOUR NAME, CLEARLY LAID OUT).
