Electronics Makerspace room summary

The Electronics Makerspace (ENG 29) is the main workspace for things related to electronics prototyping and testing. Here is a summary of the functionalities of the space:

  • electronic components (e.g., resistors, capacitors, transistors, ICs, etc.)
  • electronics prototyping (e.g., breadboards, Arduinos, etc.)
  • electronics testing equipment (e.g., multimeter, function generator, oscilloscope, etc.)
  • PCB (printed circuit board) fabrication *PCB Milling coming soon!*
  • PCB assembly (soldering iron, rework station, microscope) *Reflow Oven coming soon!*

Room equipment details

Green equipment

Equipment in this category does not require any additional training prior to use. Once you have access to the room, you may use any equipment labelled with a green equipment sticker.

  • Soldering stations
  • Electronic testing equipment, e.g. multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.
  • Hand tools, e.g. wire cutters, wire strippers, etc.

Yellow equipment

Equipment in this category requires completion of additional training prior to use. Once you have completed the training, you may use the equipment without supervision.

  • Reflow oven (coming soon)

Blue equipment

Equipment in this category requires completion of additional training prior to use. Once you have completed the training, you may use the equipment with supervision.

  • PCB Milling Machine (coming soon)

Red equipment

Equipment in this category is operated by SSE Technical Services staff only. To request the equipment service, you must first complete additional training.

There is no red equipment in the Electrical Makerspace.
