Electrical Makerspace Access Training

Space usage

Booking

There are several general workspaces within the Electrical Makerspace. Book any of these workspaces to use the room and get access to all green equipment, plus any yellow equipment that you have completed training for. Table space and access to equipment are on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Note: Being able to book a workspace in the Electrical Makerspace does not mean that you can use all the equipment in the space. You must take the relevant equipment access training to use yellow equipment.
  • You should only use equipment that you know how to operate safely (even if it is considered green).

To book, please use the following link:

Checking in

When you arrive, you must first check in using the check-in station at the door. If you have an existing booking, you can simply tap your card. If you are dropping in, you can see if the space is available using the check-in station.

  • IMPORTANT: If you are working in a group, all group members must be M2Z members and must check in.

Working in the space

If you are interested in using yellow equipment, please make sure you complete the relevant training.

There are some supplies available to you while you are working in the Electrical Makerspace (e.g. wires, resistors, solder, etc.). Some of these supplies are also used for workshops. Do not remove any raw supplies from the makerspace. You can also bring your own supplies (e.g. electrical components) when you are working on your own projects, in case our selection does not suit your project needs. If you have any questions, feel free to ask the staff in the Electrical Makerspace, or send an email to sse.m2z@ucalgary.ca.

Finishing up

When you leave:

  1. Ensure all supplies, equipment, and tools are returned to their appropriate places.
  2. Clean up your workspace, including small bits of wire, etc.
