Paint Booth Access Training

Personal protective equipment (PPE)

The following PPE is required whenever you are working in the Paint Booth:

  • Respirator or appropriate filtering mask
  • Safety glasses (can be borrowed from HQ if you do not have your own)

It is also strongly recommended that gloves are worn to reduce skin exposure to possibly toxic substances. If there is prolonged exposure inside the paint booth, a properly fitted respirator with an organic vapour cartridge is required for operation, an N95 mask will not suffice. You will need to bring your own mask or respirator however as we do not supply them. You can get fitted for a respirator on campus at this link.

In addition, be prepared for paint to splash or get on your clothing. Coveralls and shoe covers should be considered to reduce the chances of skin irritation.

Furthermore, make sure that there are no electric tools present in the booth as it presents a safety risk. Please use the available air and soon to be installed vacuum lines for any needs, there are pneumatic tools available.
